United Nations Operations Management Team, Philippines
The UN System started operations in the Philippines in 1945 when the country stood alongside 49 other nations in signing the United Nations Charter in San Francisco, USA. Its work programmes provide development assistance in various forms and emergency relief during humanitarian crisis. Following the strong 7.2 magnitude earthquake that struck Bohol and also a fairly recent crisis in Zamboanga, the United Nations has sent its agencies to help and assist displaced communities in the most affected areas.
